How Do You Know If Someone Has Blocked Your Number?

If you’re having trouble reaching your friends’ number via call or text, it might be possible that they have blocked your number for a reason. It might surprise you why but If you don’t get a response to your texts and your calls are going straight to voicemail, then it is for sure that your number has been blocked.

There are two subtle ways to determine if someone has blocked your number on Android Devices:

  1. Suggested Contacts –  There’s a way to check this on your suggested contacts. Essentially if they appear in a certain way, they didn’t block you. See Method #1 below.
  2. Check Show My Caller ID – If your call is picked up once or after a while, your number will go into voicemail, rather than continuously ring or hang. See Method #2 below.

Method#1

Here’s an easy guide to determine whether you’re blocked or not for Android users in a less awkward manner:

  1. Open the Contacts app on your Android mobile device.
  2. Tap on the name of the person you suspect may have blocked you.
  3. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  4. Tap “Delete” to delete their contact information.
  5. Open your Contacts app again.
  6. Tap on the search bar at the top of your screen and type in the person’s name.

If your friend’s name appears as a suggested contact, then it’s very likely that they didn’t block you. If their name doesn’t appear as a suggested contact, you may have been blocked.

Method#2

There’s another method to cross-check that you’re blocked or not for real:

  1. Open the Phone App on your Android Phone.
  2. Next, tap on More (or the 3-bar Menu icon) from the top right corner of your screen.
  3. From the Menu that appears, tap on Settings.
  4. On the next screen, tap on More Settings (or Advanced Settings).
  5. Tap on Show My caller ID
  6. On the pop-up Menu, tap on Hide Number and tap on Cancel to come out of the Caller ID Menu.

Now you will notice that if your call is picked up at once or after a while, then there’s a reason for your number to go directly into voice mail.
